New House, New Traditions
One of the most exciting things about establishing a new Scholarship House is establishing new traditions. As a chapter, we have been exploring philanthropy events. In the fall term we volunteered for a blood drive with Lane Blood Center. This term we volunteered at Bayberry, an assisted living facility in Springfield. Both opportunities were rewarding ways to give back to our community, and we hope to continue our involvement with both as we continue to explore philanthropies.
This past month we had our first ‘Galantine’s Day’ where Scholars had manicures and facials done, and we all watched a movie together. We’re having fun finding new ways to bond in the House! We have an exciting weekend coming up with a trip to Mt. Bachelor planned. We have rented a house in Bend, a few Scholars are planning on skiing while many are using it as an opportunity to get out of Eugene before the real studying has to start. Other things have us excited too: Oregon just had a selection meeting, and we are all excited to welcome the New Scholars into the Scholarship House. On April 9, we will be hosting them for New Scholar Day and we have already started planning the day, which will include catering and fun activities to bond over. As this term is coming to an end, we are all looking forward to spring and what it brings for our chapter.
